Deep Blue Ceylon Marquis Sapphire (2.04 ct) 12x6 mm Marquis
Product description: Blue sapphire colors range from pale blue to cornflower blue to royal blue, navy blue and midnight blue. The main sources are Sri Lanka (Ceylon), Burma (Myanmar), Madagascar, Tanzania, Australia and Thailand. Blue sapphires typically have some inclusions, but they generally have better clarity than rubies. Blue sapphires with extremely high clarity are rare, and very valuable. In Ceylon sapphires, the color is often concentrated close to the surface of the crystal. If a cutter can orient the culet within the concentrated area of color, the stone will appear entirely blue in the face-up position. Typically Ceylon Sapphire are a paler shade of blue, but these particular stones are a deep and richly saturated with flickers of blue fire when held in the light.
