Product description: Opal is famed for its play of color or opalescence. Until recently, Australia was the main supplier of high quality opal. But recent finds of high quality opal in Ethiopia are transforming the opal business. The best opals from Ethiopia, are mined near Wegel Tena, Wollo Province. The Wollo Province opal was different from the previous Ethiopian opal finds in that it more closely resembled the sedimentary opals of Australia and Brazil, with a light background and often vivid play-of-color.
